Consider the political culture of TikTok, the elephant in the room for this conversation. Are Democrats and Republicans ready to have a candid conversation about which mental health trends, specifically, they find so worrisome on these social media platforms? 

Being permanent opposition weakens our hand. It doesn’t strengthen it.

Executive roles are not great for creatives who like to ponder the big questions of the universe. I’m reminded of a recent Star Wars novel by Claudia Gray, Master & Apprentice, where Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn is offered a spot on the Jedi Council while he is still training Obi-Wan Kenobi in the years before The Phantom Menace. Qui-Gon is torn. He doesn’t feel like a good mentor to young Kenobi, and the role on the Council is highly prestigious — a dream come true for any Jedi.

iGaming, shorthand for online casino-style gaming, was left out of HB 347. State budget negotiations have been slowed by ongoing disagreement over how to incorporate iGaming into the new gambling status quo.   

Consumers will buy the products they need when they need them and in the case of expensive appliances, that probably just means adding to their debt. Consumers truly save money when they can afford the products they buy and get to choose from a wide range of appliances on the market.

Bad actors must be weeded out of markets. Legalization is the first step, allowing competing firms and platforms to offer the best experience for consumers. At the same time, consumers deserve aggressive enforcement of illegal practices designed to hook players on gambling. It is not an activity without risk.
